The Blueberry OB Peacock Cichlid is a captivating hybrid from Lake Malawi's cichlid family, renowned for its vibrant blue hues and distinctive blotched patterns. This unique coloration results from selective breeding between male Aulonocara (Peacock Cichlids) and female Mbuna species, leading to the "OB" (Orange Blotch) phenotype.
Key Characteristics:
Size: Adult males typically reach up to 6 inches (15 cm), while females are slightly smaller.
Temperament: Mildly aggressive; best housed with similarly sized and tempered cichlids.
Lifespan: With proper care, they can live up to 10 years in captivity.
Tank Requirements:
Size: A minimum of 55 gallons (208 liters) to accommodate their active nature and territorial behavior.
Water Parameters: Maintain a pH of 7.8–8.6 and a temperature between 75°F and 82°F (24°C–28°C).
Environment: Provide a sandy substrate with ample rocks and caves to mimic their natural habitat and offer hiding spots.
Diet:
As omnivores, Blueberry OB Peacocks thrive on a varied diet, including high-quality cichlid pellets, live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms, and occasional vegetable matter. Regular dietary variety enhances their vibrant coloration and overall health.
Breeding:
These cichlids are maternal mouthbrooders. To encourage breeding, maintain optimal water conditions and provide secluded areas within the tank. Females carry fertilized eggs in their mouths until the fry are ready to swim freely.
Compatibility:
Ideal tank mates include other non-aggressive Lake Malawi cichlids of similar size. Avoid housing them with overly aggressive species or those significantly different in size to prevent stress and aggression.
The Blueberry OB Peacock Cichlid's stunning appearance and engaging behavior make it a standout addition for cichlid enthusiasts seeking a vibrant and dynamic aquarium inhabitant.

Q: I just completed my order, what's next?
A: Before shipment, we quarantine all fish for at least 24-48 hours. During this period, we closely monitor the fish to make sure they are healthy. We also do not feed them during this time in order to 'clean out' their digestive system and limit their ability to soil the water. This helps reduce the amount of waste in the bag and will keep the water clean.
Q: When can I expect my order to be ship?
