The Albino Platinum Eureka is a striking color variant of the Aulonocara jacobfreibergi “Eureka” line — a selective‑bred peacock from Lake Malawi, East Africa. J&J Cichlid Addiction+3Tampa Bay Cichlids+3FishyHub+3
In this form:
Albino trait: Produces a pale or white base body color due to reduced melanin. FishyHub+1
Platinum / “Platinum” designation: Indicates enhanced metallic sheen, sometimes heightened pattern or scale‑luster compared to standard forms.
Eureka lineage: Known for bold patterning and good color saturation; the albino platinum version emphasizes ultra‑light body tones and vivid fin/hue contrasts.
Size: As with many peacocks, males may reach around 4‑6 in (10‑15 cm) (and larger in big tanks) once mature.
Coloration: Expect a pale/white‑ish body (albino base) with shimmering metallic (platinum) highlights, possibly faint patterning retained from the Eureka line.
Behavior: Moderately peaceful among Malawi peacocks; as always, keep adequate space and similar‑sized tankmates to avoid bullying.
Tank Setup:
Minimum tank size ~55 gal for a small group; larger is better, especially if you want multiple males.
Substrate: Sand or fine gravel is preferred. Provide rock caves and open swimming area.
Water: pH around 7.8‑8.6, hardness moderate to high, temperature 75‑82 °F.
Diet: Omnivore leaning toward high‑quality cichlid pellets, plus frozen/live foods (brine shrimp, daphnia) for best color.
Breeding: Likely maternal mouthbrooder (like many Aulonocara). If you’re breeding, ensure one male with several females to reduce aggression.
Because of the albino and platinum traits, color and pattern may vary and sometimes appear less “traditional” than wild forms.
When purchasing, check for: good health, clean fins/eyes, no obvious deformities, good body form.
Ensure the vendor is reputable — rare morphs like this may command higher prices and careful acclimation.
As with all cichlids: Monitor water quality, use proper acclimation, and avoid over‑stocking.
Highly visually striking due to the ultra‑light body and metallic sheen.
Lesser aggression compared to many mbuna — easier to integrate into peacock/hap setups if compatible.
Offers a “premium” showpiece variant for dedicated cichlid aquarists.

Q: I just completed my order, what's next?
A: Before shipment, we quarantine all fish for at least 24-48 hours. During this period, we closely monitor the fish to make sure they are healthy. We also do not feed them during this time in order to 'clean out' their digestive system and limit their ability to soil the water. This helps reduce the amount of waste in the bag and will keep the water clean.
Q: When can I expect my order to be ship?
